The situation is said to be improving at the hospital
Borders General Hospital will be closed to admissions over the weekend after number of new cases of winter vomiting were identified in elderly care areas.

The virus outbreak began just over a week ago, affecting a number of Hawick Hospital's patients and three staff.

NHS Borders said there were still some cases in the intensive therapy unit and elderly care wards, but the situation was improving with fewer cases overall.

It said the closure was a precautionary measure to be reviewed on Monday.

Visitors with winter vomiting symptoms have been urged to avoid the hospital.
