Reward offered after Bard attack

A reward has been offered for information about vandalism at Robert Burns' mausoleum in Dumfries.

Investigations have been continuing into the incident at St Michael's churchyard between 12 and 17 March.

Two panes of glass were smashed at the burial site in the latest of a spate of attacks on churches in the town.

Police confirmed a reward has been offered for information leading to the conviction of the people who carried out the vandalism.

Sgt Graham Kerr said: "It appears that local youths may be responsible for the damage and unfortunately the area seems to be a continued target for them.

"It is irresponsible behaviour from a group of youngsters who appear to be determined in ruining one of the town's natural heritages.

"A reward has been put up for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

"I would urge anyone who has knowledge on this incident to contact police as soon as possible before these people cause more damage to our town."
