The future of the dairy industry is up for discussion
The future of Scottish dairy farming is being put under the microscope in Dumfries and Galloway.

Two meetings are taking place in the region for farmers to discuss how to secure a sustainable milk sector.

The events, in Dumfries and Stranraer, follow a number of protests about the price being paid for milk.

NFU Scotland, which organised the meetings, said its aim was to address the problems in the industry and how to take it forward.

"It is in the interest of not only farmers, but also consumers and retailers, to ensure that dairy farming in Scotland remains sustainable so that we have a continued supply of quality, fresh Scottish milk," said NFUS president John Kinnaird.

The first meeting took place at the Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries on Tuesday with the second at the North West Castle Hotel in Stranraer on Wednesday.
