The Who to headline T in the Park
Pete Townshend
Pete Townshend appeared unexpectedly at last year's festival
Veteran rockers The Who will headline this year's T in the Park festival.

It will be the band's first appearance at the two-day music extravaganza which also features the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who top the bill on day one.

Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and co - famous for Pinball Wizard and My Generation - will be joined by the Arctic Monkeys and Primal Scream.

Tickets for the event at Balado near Kinross on the weekend of 8 and 9 July will go on sale this Friday.

With no Glastonbury festival this year, organisers of T in the Park had their pick of the bands playing the festival circuit.

The line-up unveiled on Monday also includes the Kaiser Chiefs.

Although The Who have never played T in the Park, guitarist Pete Townshend made an impromptu appearance last year with singer Rachel Fuller.
