Wind turbine
The wind farm could create 20% of Scotland's energy needs
Europe's largest community-owned wind farm could be built on the Shetland Islands.

Shetland Islands Council has joined forces with Scottish and Southern Energy for the 500m project.

The partners say the 600 megawatt scheme in the islands' central mainland could provide more than 20% of Scotland's energy needs.

A proposal to build Europe's largest onshore wind farm on Lewis is awaiting planning approval by ministers.
