More by-election candidates named
The Tories, Labour and UK Independence Party have named their candidates for the Dunfermline and West Fife by-election.

The 9 February poll follows the death of Labour MP Rachel Squire from cancer.

Carrie Ruxton will represent the Tories and Ian Borland will stand for UKIP. The Labour Party chose Catherine Stihler as their candidate.

Willie Rennie has already been named as the Liberal Democrats candidate, while Douglas Chapman will represent the SNP.

The turnout for Dunfermline and Fife West at the last general election was 59.90%, with a Labour majority of 11,562.

The results were: Rachel Squire (Lab) 20,111 (47.44%); David Herbert (Lib Dem) 8,549 (20.17%); Douglas Chapman (SNP) 8,026 (18.93%); Roger Smillie (C) 4,376 (10.32%); Susan Archibald (Scottish Socialist Party) 689 (1.63%) and Ian Borland (UKIP) 643 (1.52%).
