Aberdeen Airport recorded an 8.3% increase in passenger numbers
Scotland's three biggest airports recorded an increase in passenger numbers in the wake of a New Year sales drive by airlines.

BAA Scotland said more than 1.2 million people passed through Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh airports - 6.2% more than in January last year.

It said 8.3% more used Aberdeen due to new services, while Glasgow recorded a 6.8% increase and Edinburgh added 4.9%.

A total of 19.3 million people used them in the year to January - up 6.4%.

Glasgow handled 8.6 million passengers (up 6%), while there were eight million at Edinburgh (up 7.2%) and 2.7 million at Aberdeen (up 5.7%).

BAA Scotland managing director Donal Dowds said: "All our airports recorded an excellent start to the year, with positive growth trends continuing across the board."
