Danielle mother allowed to appeal
Tracy Reid
Tracy Reid is serving an eight-year sentence
A mother who was jailed for eight years for helping dispose of her murdered daughter's body has won the right to appeal against her sentence.

Tracy Reid admitted perverting the course of justice by helping dump five-year-old Danielle's body in the Caledonian Canal, Inverness.

Lawyers for the 25-year-old argued that the sentence was excessive and have now won the right to appeal.

But Reid's relatives have condemned the legal challenge.

Her uncle, Nick Gordon, said he was baffled by the justice system.

And her sister, Katrina, said she believed that Reid should be serving a life sentence.

A preliminary hearing at the Court of Session in Edinburgh has been scheduled for mid-April.

Reid's partner, 25-year-old Lee Gaytor, was jailed for life after he admitted murdering Danielle.

Reid is serving eight years for failing to seek medical attention for her daughter and for helping Gaytor's brother, Christopher, dump the five-year-old's body.
