The Glencoe resort is Scotland's oldest |
The Glencoe Ski Centre is going to open this season, but only at weekends. Operator, the Glenshee Chairlift Company, reversed a decision to mothball the White Corries area after offers of help from volunteers.
The company had said Scotland's oldest commercial ski centre was unable to compete on a level playing field due to a lack of public funding.
Talks are ongoing with various public agencies in a bid to safeguard the long term future of the resort.
Glencoe first opened in 1956 and since 1995 it has been owned by the Glenshee Chairlift Company.
The firm expressed regret in November at its decision not to open the centre this season.
Recent winter seasons have seen all of Scotland's five ski areas struggle with lack of snow.
