Thomas Loughrey died from his injuries |
A teenager who died after being stabbed in Glasgow was wearing a Celtic football shirt, police have revealed. Officers said it was unlikely that Thomas Loughrey was the victim of a sectarian attack but they could not rule out the possibility.
The 17-year-old was stabbed in the Pollokshaws area of the city early on Sunday morning and died shortly after being taken to hospital.
The youth was found injured in Shawbridge Street, near Netherauldhouse Road at about 0130 BST.
A police spokesman said: "We do not believe the attack was football-related, but at this stage we cannot rule out the possibility."
Police have appealed for anyone who was in the area of Careys pub at the time of the attack to contact them at Aikenhead Road police office.
