Orkney fish trader Cameron Stout has won television's Big Brother contest.

The 32-year-old was the final housemate in the Big Brother house after Irish contestant Ray was evicted.

Cameron picks up 70,000 for winning the show.

Earlier his mother Doris confessed she thought Cameron, who lives in Harray, was crazy to join the programme.

"I thought he would be better going to prison because at least there he would have newspapers, television and radio.

"When the programme began I thought it was boring but the psychology of it intrigued me, because why is that half way through did I become hooked and look forward to seeing it in the evenings.

"I still thought it was boring so it's quite clever I suppose."

She added that while she had not seen the three previous series, Cameron had always been a huge fan.
