Climbers rescued from hills
Ben Nevis
Two climbers were airlifted from Ben Nevis
Rescue teams were called out to bring five climbers to safety in three separate incidents on Scottish mountains.

Two Spanish hillwalkers were airlifted from Ben Nevis after reports that they had become disorientated.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team and a rescue helicopter from RAF Kinloss were alerted at 2000 BST on Wednesday.

The men were taken to the Belford Hospital in Fort William, where they were treated for hypothermia.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team was called out earlier in the day following reports that an American student became unwell at Sourlies Bothy, Knoydart.

A helicopter from HMS Gannet was also involved in the operation to take the 18-year-old to Belford Hospital.

Reported overdue

Michael Spence, from Virginia Beach, was treated for dehydration.

Meanwhile, a couple in their 30s were reported overdue from a walk on Sgurr an Fheadain, Cuillins, Isle of Skye, at about 2000 BST.

Skye Mountain Rescue Team located the pair three hours after the alarm was raised.

The couple, who were uninjured, had under-estimated the time required to complete their walk.

They were escorted off the hill to Glenbrittle by mountain rescue team members.
