The 24-year-old sang to more than 600 people at Paisley town hall, Renfrewshire. Unofficial early sales figures indicate that Sneddon will take the number one spot in the UK singles charts this Sunday with his first single, Stop Living The Lie. He said he had been "overwhelmed and honoured" by the noisy reception he received as he performed four songs.
Hundreds of ecstatic fans of all ages shouted and screamed during his 20-minute concert which was followed by a civic reception. Sneddon said he would be "absolutely over the moon" if his single, which he wrote eight years ago, hit the number one spot. Later he hit out at critics of music shows such as Fame Academy and Popstars: the Rivals, saying they were the best way to find new music talent in the UK. "It's very easy for people to criticise shows like the one I was in, but they proved that there is real talent out there," he said. "I've been doing this for eight years and to be where I am today has been hard work. "I'm still not sure what a civic reception is. Next I'll be getting a knighthood." He added some people have "a wee laugh" when you say you're from Paisley because it hasn't got the best of reputations but I'm extremely proud of this town and will do all I can to promote it". |
