| Sunday, 17 November, 2002, 23:32 GMT Lockerbie bomber's family targeted ![]() Megrahi has been in the Glasgow jail since March The home of Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi's family in Glasgow has been attacked by vandals. The 500,000 house in Newton Mearns, near Glasgow, was pelted with eggs on Friday night but not damaged, Strathclyde Police said. His wife Aisha and four of the couple's children were inside when the home was targeted. It was bought for the family by the Gaddafi International Foundation so that Megrahi's family could live in Glasgow and visit him at the city's Barlinnie Prison. The five-bedroom, two-storey house, which is a 30-minute drive from the jail, was purchased following negotiations with the UK Government. A Strathclyde Police spokesman said: "We've received a complaint and an inquiry is under way but it's still at an early stage." Megrahi was moved to the Scottish jail in March when he lost an appeal against his murder conviction for smuggling a bomb aboard Pan Am Flight 103, which exploded over Lockerbie in 1988, with the loss of 270 lives. | See also: 17 Jun 02 | Scotland 15 Jun 02 | Scotland 11 Jun 02 | Scotland 10 Jun 02 | Scotland 25 Apr 02 | Scotland 16 Apr 02 | Scotland Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Scotland stories now: Links to more Scotland stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
