The team inspecting Scotland's joint bid with Ireland for the Euro 2008 football championships puts the home of Scottish rugby under the microscope on Wednesday.

Murrayfield is part of the package of stadia being proposed in the bid to bring the tournament finals to Scotland and Ireland.

The seven-strong Uefa delegation visited Aberdeen and Dundee on Tuesday.

Aberdeen FC hope to build a new stadium at Kingswells while Dundee and Dundee Utd are seeking permission to share a stadium at Caird Park.

The Dons' chief executive, Keith Wyness, said: "You can't win the bid but you can lose it if we don't do the right things.

"It is important we show the reality of Aberdeen and Dundee and not just some of the perceptions of the Uefa delegates might have.

"We have to put our best foot forward and show we are the best place for the Uefa showpiece of 2008."

Also on Wednesday, the team met Scotland's First Minister Jack McConnell and goes on to view the national stadium at Hampden on Thursday.

The assessment process began in the Republic of Ireland on Monday. Eight stadia with a capacity of 30,000 seats are needed to host the tournament.

The bid organisers are out to impress

The Scotland-Ireland bid has been troubled by difficulties over the funding of a new Irish national stadium.

A possible solution lies in Croke Park, home of the Gaelic Athletic Association which until now has refused to allow the stadium to be used for soccer.

However, incoming GAA president Sean Kelly has hinted that he favours changing the rules to allow Croke Park to become part of the bid.

The deadline for resolving the stadia issue is 11 December, when final bid presentations must be made to Uefa.

Other candidates to host the championship are Bosnia and Croatia (joint bid), Greece and Turkey (joint bid), a four-way bid from Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway and a solo bid by Hungary.
