| Tuesday, 20 August, 2002, 04:47 GMT 05:47 UK Inquiry as climber falls to his death ![]() The man was part of a climbing party on Iona An investigation has been launched after a climber fell 100ft to his death on the remote Scottish island of Iona. The man, who has not yet been named, was believed to have been a member of a climbing party on the island, off the coast of Mull. The alarm was raised at around 1900 BST on Monday near an area known as Spouting Cave, Strathclyde Police said.
No details of the climber were being released by police until relatives had been informed.
