Chinook helicopter delay a mistake say Conservatives

The shadow defence minister has reacted to the announcement by the government that it is to buy 22 new Chinook helicopters.

Gerald Howarth says Gordon Brown made a "catastrophic mistake" by cutting the helicopter budget in 2004.

Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth is set to announce the details of other cuts to fund the helicopters.
