Gordon Brown calls for bank bonus restraint

The government is being urged to "call the bluff" of bank bosses who are threatening to quit if ministers restrict bonus payments.

The Liberal Democrats say the board of Royal Bank of Scotland, which is mainly owned by taxpayers, should not be allowed to hand out bonuses of £1.5bn.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown says there needs to be restraint shown throughout the banking world.
