Mark Serwotka who leads the main civil service union said he wanted to hear about a change in direction from Gordon Brown following the prime minister's speech at the TUC conference in Liverpool.
The general secretary of the Public and Commercial Services union said "we want to hear a change in direction, no more privatisation, not more cuts" and said the speech offered little comfort to public sector workers.
