Brown pledges to fight UK recession

The government is fighting the recession with "every weapon at its disposal", the prime minister has said.

Figures have revealed the steepest quarterly fall in economic growth since 1980.

Gordon Brown said he believed Britain would ''win through'' the difficult times.
