Heathrow expansion 'critical' for prosperity

The transport secretary Geoff Hoon has told MPs the government has approved controversial plans to build a third runway at Heathrow Airport.

The confirmation has come despite opposition from residents, environmentalists and MPs.

Mr Hoon outlined the economic case for expansion to the House of Commons.
