The Work and Pensions Secretary, James Purnell, has spoken about the need for changes to the current benefit system.
Speaking to the BBC's political editor, Nick Robinson, Mr Purnell outlined changes that could see benefit claimants being made to do community work, or face having their payments stopped if they refuse to take part in government schemes to help them back into work.
This is one proposal which will be outlined in the government's white paper on welfare reform.
