Brown defends economy boost plan

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has defended plans for extra borrowing that he says will help the British people during the economic downturn.

Speaking alongside EC president Jose Manuel Barroso, Mr Brown predicted a fall in petrol, energy and food prices after a year of high inflation, but has insisted that the Government will continue to help people during the current economic downturn.
