Gay man speaks of harassment
Arthur Templeton
Arthur Templeton was suspended from the party
A gay man harassed by a County Antrim DUP councillor has spoken publicly about the case for the first time.

John Blair, an independent member of Newtownabbey District Policing Partnership, successfully took a case against Arthur Templeton for harassment during local government electioneering.

Mr Templeton has since been suspended from the DUP.

Mr Blair told BBC Radio Ulster on Friday that Mr Templeton's behaviour was "intimidating and threatening".

"I know that there are extremists and bigots out there, and those people have often irritated me but I have never allowed them to stop me," he said.

"On this occasion as a means of stopping what was going on, I had to seek legal advice and take it from there."

Mr Templeton was fined 250 at Belfast Magistrates' Court earlier this month after being convicted of harassing Mr Blair.
