 Prince Charles is in the province on a two day visit |
The Prince of Wales has arrived in Belfast at the start of an official visit to Northern Ireland. The Prince officially opened the Old Belmont School, a listed building which has been restored for community use in the east of the city.
He toured the building on Wednesday and met members of the Old Belmont School Preservation Trust and those involved in the restoration project.
He was shown a display on the history of the school, which included past pupil photographs and artefacts.
The prince was presented with a framed print of the Old Belmont School by two pupils of the neighbouring Belmont Primary School which he also visited.
Prince Charles also met staff and patients at the Marie Curie Cancer Centre on Kensington Road.

Prince Charles, who is the organisation's patron, has been helping them celebrate a Charter Mark award. In his third engagement of the day, the Prince went to the Vista Allotments at Gilnahirk in east Belfast.
After being greeted by William Hall, the Lord Lieutenant of County Down, he was introduced to a number of allotment owners.
Castlereagh Borough Council Mayor Joanne Bunting, the council's chief executive Adrian Donaldson and Strangford MP Iris Robinson also greeted the Royal visitor.
It is expected that Prince Charles will be in the province for two days.
