Counterfeit operation halted
Counterfeit copying equipment seized by police in County Armagh
Expensive copying equipment was seized by police
A number of people are being questioned by police after the discovery of a counterfeiting operation in County Armagh.

Officers seized goods and machinery with an estimated value of 200,000 during a search of a house and business premises in the Killicomaine area of Portadown on Wednesday.

The equipment included DVD and CD writers, video equipment and other machinery used to copy and manufacture computer games.

The operation was carried out by police from Craigavon and officers from the organised crime unit.

A van was also searched and suspected counterfeit goods were taken for examination.

The police are investigating a possible link between this seizures and one about three weeks in the same area.

It is understood the PSNI believe loyalist paramilitaries may have been involved in that operation.

They said there had been a significant counterfeiting problem in Portadown and the two seizures were important.
