Loyalist link to counterfeit goods
Counterfeit copying equipment seized by police in County Armagh
Expensive copying equipment was seized by police
Police believe loyalist paramilitaries may have been behind a major counterfeiting operation discovered at a house in County Armagh.

Sophisticated copying equipment was among goods estimated to be worth 200,000 found during a search of the house in Portadown on Thursday evening.

Officers uncovered a significant amount of equipment which is used to manufacture counterfeit goods.

This included DVD writers, video taping equipment, CD burners and machinery which is used to make computer games.

Colin Cushley of the PSNI's Organised Crime Squad said the operation would have a big impact on people involved in producing counterfeit goods.

"Blank CDs are not terribly expensive but the equipment to produce these things is expensive," he said.

"Certainly, that would be a major dent in the counterfeiters' business to be able to take that equipment off them."

Two people are being questioned by police in connection with the operation.
