Ambulance Service called for such incidents to stop immediately

A brick was thrown through a window in the vehicle in the Dunmurry area at about 2150 BST on Wednesday.

The driver escaped injury in the attack.

Police condemned the attack as a dangerous incident which had the potential for more serious consequences.

Dawn Blaney of the Ambulance Service appealed for the attacks to stop.

"Our ambulance staff are going out there to help people.

"We respond to anybody in need, and the staff want to go out and do the best they can at their job to help patients, and we're being stopped from doing that," she said.

This is the latest in a series of attacks on emergency services in the Belfast area.

Last month, paramedics were attacked on two nights in a row while attending disturbances in north Belfast.
