Man arrested in murder inquiry
One year on: The spot near where the stabbing occurred
Norman Moffatt was stabbed at Railway Street junction
A man has been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of a pensioner in Coleraine in January of last year.

Norman Moffatt, 73, was stabbed at the junction of Railway Street and Circular Road in Coleraine after buying his morning newspaper. He later died in hospital.

He was able to stagger a short distance to his home on Circular Road and was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery for stab wounds to his abdomen.

However, Mr Moffatt, who was married with two children, died six weeks later in hospital.

The attack, which horrified the local community, was caught on a private security camera, but to date no one has been prosecuted.

Last January, police renewed their appeal for information in an attempt to track down the killer.

Detective Sergeant Brian Logan said police were lacking the "vital evidence that will prove this case for us".

"That is why I'm appealing to any member of the public with any information to please get in touch," he said.
