One Swindon Town fan said the crowd's mood was angry |
Some Swindon Town FC fans have staged a protest after Tuesday night's match in response to negative newspaper reports surrounding club finances. Fans said about 150 gathered outside the directors' entrance following the home game against Cheltenham Town.
The club would not comment on the Swindon Evening Advertiser report describing alleged "financial woes".
The club is currently in negotiations to be taken over by Portuguese company Best Holdings.
'Angry mood'
One Swindon Town fan said between 150 and 200 fans had gathered outside the directors' entrance.
"The fans are in an angry mood and want the club to know that," he said.
The crowd was eventually dispersed after police arrived.
Swindon Town FC came out of administration in 2002, and agreed to pay 1m within five years to creditors.
A club spokesman recently confirmed the club still owed about 900,000.
The local newspaper report said the final takeover deal could cost Best Holdings 18m.
