Plan for wind turbines deferred
Plans for a wind farm on the border of Wiltshire and Oxfordshire have been recommended for consideration by the Government Office for the South East.

Permission for the farm at Watchfield, near Swindon, was originally turned down last October.

But plans were resurrected after new advice on renewable energy from the government.

At a meeting of the Vale of White Horse Council planners deferred the decision to the Secretary of State.

A spokesman for the council said there were various objections to the plan, including one surrounding air safety from a nearby glider club.

There were also concerns surrounding low frequency noise emitted by the turbines, and that it would damage the environment.

Evidence was also presented at the hearing from an energy consultant who said the plan was financially viable.
