Spiked drinks warning issued
Poster campaign
Posters are being distributed in bars across the county
Pub and club-goers are being warned about the dangers of leaving drinks unattended.

Leaflets are being handed out across Wiltshire to try to raise awareness about drink-spiking and drug-assisted rape.

Posters and leaflets providing advice on how to stay safe will be on display at pubs and clubs across the county from Wednesday.

A spokesman said: "There are many drugs in circulation which can be used to inhibit normal behaviour, including GHB, Valium, Tamazepan and Rohypnol.

"They are mostly clear, odourless and tasteless and effects may include feeling unusually drunk very quickly, nausea and drowsiness."

Superintendent Kevin Maidment, said: "Drug-assisted rape is one of the UK's fastest growing crimes.

"By launching the Has Your Drink Been Spiked? campaign, we aim to raise awareness of this important issue and to highlight the dangers of leaving your drinks unattended, at any time, any place, anywhere.

"We want to ensure that the public are fully informed about the measures they can take to help keep themselves and their friends safe on nights out during the forthcoming party season."
