Faster journey for bus passengers
A new bus and cycle lane is to be built on a busy west Leeds commuter route.

Wellington Road in New Wortley will be widened from Sutherland Street to the Armley Gyratory at a cost of 650,000.

Leeds City Council claims that when the work is completed next autumn, bus journey times along Wellington Road will be reduced by eight minutes.

Over 20 trees will have to be removed as part of the construction work but the council says new trees and shrubs will take their place.

Andrew Carter, the executive member for development, said: "This is great news for bus passengers in west Leeds.

"It will make a huge improvement to their daily journeys."
