Travel writer Bill Bryson and broadcaster Andy Kershaw are to receive honorary degrees from Leeds University. American Bill Bryson lived for many years in North Yorkshire writing a string of books including Notes from a Small Island.
Andy Kershaw, an expert in world music, was a politics student at the university in the 1970s and will receive a doctorate in music.
Both will be given their degrees at a ceremony on 14 July.

A the same ceremony, the university's chancellor, Lord Bragg, will also confer honorary degrees on four other people.
Cinema director Gurinder Chadha won critical acclaim with her first feature film Bhaji on the Beach.
Sir David Cox was the university's first student to complete a doctorate in statistics, and has had a distinguished career as a mathematician.
Physiologist Nancy Rothwell has undertaken research in the processes which lead to brain damage after stroke and brain trauma and is currently at the University of Manchester.
An honorary degree is also going to a life-long supporter of Leeds University, Marjorie Ziff.
Together with her late husband Arnold Ziff she has helped fund a variety of projects in the city including the Leeds International Piano Competitions.
