Gates in other cities have been found to reduce burglaries | Terraced houses in two parts of inner-city Leeds could be fitted with security gates to protect the alleyways at the rear of the properties. Leeds City Council is offering to undertake the work in Hyde Park and Harehills and is asking residents where they would like to have the gates. Securing the back entrances to terraced houses has been found to be an effective way of cutting burglaries. Letters are going out to residents and exhibitions are being held.
