Alley gates put up to beat crime
Burglar
Residents hope the gates will stop crime such as burglary
Residents in Bristol have paid for iron gates to be fitted in an alleyway near their homes in a bid to beat crime.

They hope the gates installed in Stoneleigh Crescent, Upper Knowle, will reduce crimes such as burglary, drug dealing and fly-tipping.

The initiative was supported by police and received some funding from the Avon and Somerset Police Community Trust.

Scheme chairman Les Bowen said: "We wanted to do something to help beat crime and ensure our area stays safe."
