Final preparations are being made to transport a garden that Leeds City Council is hoping will bring it success at the Chelsea Flower Show.

The garden is called "From Freedom to the Future" and celebrates the city's links with South Africa.

Two trainee parks managers from the twin city of Durban have come to Leeds to help in its construction.

They have been helping cultivate plants native to South Africa which form part of the garden.

Abel Sekoro Lephulala and Emmanuel Alusani have also been learning about other aspects of Leeds' horticultural work including the care of open spaces such as Temple Newsam.

Leeds has a record of success in the Chelsea Flower Show including a bronze medal in 1996, a silver in 1997 and a silver gilt in 1998.

This year's entry, which measures 10 metres by 12 metres, will be on display in the city when it returns from Chelsea but where in Leeds has yet to be decided.
