A man accused of murdering his wife has been found dead in his cell at Armley prison in Leeds. A spokesman for the Prison Service said Michael Briggs, 40, from Huddersfield, was found hanged in his cell at 0720 BST on Thursday.
On Monday, Mr Briggs was remanded in custody charged with murdering his wife, Debra, a 37-year-old nurse.
Her body was found at a house in the Oakes area of Huddersfield in the early hours of Saturday.
An investigation will be carried out by the Prison Service and police.
