A West Yorkshire teenager has been banned from misbehaving anywhere in England and Wales for three years. Gary Brandon, 18, of Normanton, near Wakefield, has been told he faces jail if he breaches the Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) imposed on him.
He pleaded guilty to what Wakefield magistrates described as a "catalogue of serious offences" including dangerous driving and assault.
Brandon was sentenced to six months in a young offenders institution.
Public protection
Magistrates imposed the ASBO at the request of West Yorkshire Police who described Brandon as "a persistent offender locked in a cycle of crime".
He also admitted taking vehicles without consent, driving while disqualified, threatening behaviour and assaulting a policewoman.
Sgt John Jones said Brandon caused alarm, distress and harassment to his victims.
Magistrates said the ASBO was to protect the public and their property, and they banned Brandon from driving for two years.
The order bans him from criminal behaviour anywhere in England and Wales and also states he must not carry a screwdriver, knife or similar instrument.
Rob Casey, defending, said Brandon's problem was his fascination for cars.
"He can't stop himself taking them and driving them," he added.
