Music festival deadline extended
Fans arriving for the 2003 festival
Some 50,000 people attended the weekend event last year
Local residents have been given more time to comment on plans to hold the 2004 Leeds Festival at Bramham Park, near Wetherby.

Mean Fiddler, which organises the music event, has applied for a licence to reuse the 2003 site.

Leeds City Council set a deadline of 15 January for objections but this has been extended by just over two weeks.

In 2003 some people living near Bramham Park tried to have the event stopped.

They were concerned about traffic and feared that the violence that marred previous Leeds Festivals held at Temple Newsam in the city would also happen at Bramham Park.

In the end, the 2003 festival passed without major incident.

Mean Fiddler want to hold the 2004 event over the last weekend in August.

It is expected the city council's licensing panel will consider the application towards the end of February.
