Drivers urged to get on bikes
Cyclists
It is hoped more people will be encouraged to cycle
Cyclists in Leeds are being given extra secure places to park their bikes.

A total of 71 new cycle stands are being installed, mostly in the shopping areas in west Leeds.

There will also be a further seven stands in Wetherby and two more in the city centre outside the library.

A review of cycle parking facilities in other areas of Leeds is also being carried out.

Councillor Elizabeth Minkin from Leeds City Council said: "We are continuing our drive to encourage more people to use their bikes as an alternative to the car.

"One of the reasons people don't cycle is because of a lack of secure places to park them.

"Hopefully these new cycle stands will allow more people to appreciate the benefits of cycling."
