Police mount drugs purge
Police on a raid
A newly-formed team swung into action
A major purge on drugs dealers has seen a team of specialist officers raiding homes and commercial premises in West Yorkshire on Wednesday.

The newly-formed team piloted a move on drugs dealers and storage places in the force's latest offensive to wreck the drugs markets and dealers' activities.

Around 20 specialist officers and support staff, reacting to tip-offs, pinpointed addresses in Dewsbury and Milnsbridge, near Huddersfield, making several arrests and taking away substances for forensic testing.

The team, led by Detective Inspector John Gilbody, concentrated their efforts on the people suspected of dealing in Class A and B drugs in the Kirklees area.

Detective Inspector John Gilbody told BBC Radio Leeds: "We have had a massive response from the local community.

"I would encourage them to assist us in stamping out, and bringing to justice those who deal in illicit substances."
