Loo protest flush with supporters
People sign a petition against the closure in Solihull town centre
More than 3,000 people have signed a petition against the plans
A petition in protest at the planned closure of public toilets in the centre of Solihull has been signed by more then 3,000 local residents.

Solihull Council decided to close all the toilets in the centre of the town in June to save 7m, but then decided to keep toilets in Chelmsley Wood open.

But local councillor Jim Ryan wants all the toilets to be saved.

He has set up a portable loo in Solihull and said he would protest until the decision was reversed.

"It's a disgrace that the council has closed down the facilities and denied Solihull people a basic right of being able to go to the toilet," he said.

"Over the last month I have met people who are in great distress because they're on water tablets, they have prostate problems and they want to use the facilities and they can't."
