Warning over bogus cold callers
West Midlands Police are warning local businesses to beware of "cold callers" selling adverts, who claim to be acting for the region's emergency services.

The alert follows a number of complaints, mostly from small businesses, saying they have been duped by salesmen.

The salesmen falsely claim to be selling advertising space on behalf of West Midlands Police.

They claim to sell the space in diaries, leaflets and wall charts.

Diane Morgan, the Partnership Funding Manager for the West Midlands force, has urged anyone who receives such a call to be wary and check first before agreeing to any form of contract.
