Bogus callers 'posed as police'
Elderly people are being warned after bogus callers tricked their way into homes by posing as police officers.

There were three incidents in half an hour on Saturday afternoon in Strood. A fourth suspicious call was made in an area of north Kent.

One incident involved a single man while on the other occasions there were two men. One handbag was stolen.

The men were plain-clothed but did produce warrant cards, which police said could have been fake or stolen.

Det Insp Mike Morgan said: "It's bad enough being burgled by these people but for somebody to come in on the pretence that they're a police officer is quite worrying."
