Calls to reduce M6 Toll Road fee
Business leaders have again called for the M6 Toll Road to cut its fees for lorries.

The plea comes after latest figures show that traffic on the pay-as-you-go motorway has gone up by 12%.

This week the company behind the M6 Toll, Midland Expressway Limited, said 45,000 vehicles a day were now using the road.

The figure is still below the 70,000 to 100,000 originally predicted, but the firm says numbers are still growing.

But, business leaders in Birmingham say it is now time to cut the prices for lorries which put many haulage firms off using the road.

The Chamber of Commerce says the 10 charge should be at least halved.

It says a price cut would be a "win-win" situation, easing congestion and making more money for Midland Expressway.

Local traders also say the move should be made before this summer's planned roadworks on the M6.
