Nearly 50,000 people visited the complex in one hour on Saturday |
The West Midlands' newest shopping attraction has recorded an impressive set of figures in its first weekend of trading. A spokesperson for the Bullring, which opened in Birmingham last Thursday, said the number of visitors has far exceeded expectation.
By 1700 BST on Saturday, over 280,000 people had visited the complex - many more than passed through on its launch day.
The busiest hour came between 1300 BST and 1400 BST on Saturday, when 46,000 shoppers came through the Bullring's doors.
Emergency supplies
One retailer, which has not been named, reported taking more than 1m inside the first two days' trading at the complex.
Some stores were unprepared for the huge demand.
One sandwich shop was so busy that an extra till and two emergency supplies of food had to be ordered.
Bullring's management had predicted visitor numbers would reach 300,000 over the weekend, but now say that figure will be far higher.
