Closures and parking restrictions will affect many roads on Tyneside during the Great North Run. About 50,000 people are expected to take part in the 25th running of the famous half-marathon from Newcastle to South Shields on Sunday.
The route will be closed to traffic throughout the day, and diversions will be signposted.
Spectators and competitors travelling to the start are advised to use public transport wherever possible.
The event follows the usual route from Newcastle to South Shields via North West Radial, Central Motorway, Tyne Bridge, Felling by-pass, the A194, John Reid Road, King George Road, Prince Edward Road, Redwell Lane and the Coast Road.
'Additional services'
In Newcastle, the North West Radial route from Cowhill to the start adjacent to North Terrace Interchange, closes at 2300 BST on Saturday. Part of the Central Motorway will also be affected by this closure.
On Sunday, the Central Motorway to the Tyne Bridge will close at 0845 BST, the route through Gateshead via Park Lane roundabout, Felling by-pass to White Mare Pool will close at 0900 BST and the route through South Shields via Leam Lane, John Reid Road to the Coast Road will close at 0930 BST.
Roads will begin to re-open once all runners have passed through.
Nexus will run additional Metro services and two cross-Tyne ferries will operate continuously for much of the day.
There will also be a bus service between Bents Park Road in South Shield and either Newcastle, or Heworth, depending on road openings, and extra buses running between the North Shields ferry landing and the Metro station.
