Residents of one of Tyneside's best-loved areas are being updated on the competition to transform the area. The Byker Design Competition has attracted 15 entries from designers in the UK and overseas.
The famous Byker Wall is not involved in the competition, which focuses on St Lawrence Square and South Byker.
Three-dimensional models of five shortlisted designs will be produced and the next stages of the contest will be explained to the public on Tuesday.
Member of Newcastle City Council's planning team will be at the meeting to answer questions.
The multi-million-pound project - aimed at tackling low housing demand - has received funding from the office of the deputy prime minister.
A panel, including representatives from Newcastle City Council, the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) and members of the local community, will decide the overall winner in spring 2005.
