The Coatham development will include homes and leisure facilities |
A major week-long exhibition on proposals for a 55m housing project on Teesside is taking place. Redcar and Cleveland Council's plans for the Coatham Enclosure site include 250 new homes, a hotel, visitor tower and bingo hall.
But protesters have said green land will be lost in the development.
Councillor Vera Moody, cabinet member for economic development, said the exhibition was a chance for "doubting Thomases" to see what was happening.
The exhibition, at Redcar Bowl from Monday, will show a revised masterplan, artist's impressions and a video showing how the public's views have helped shape the latest proposals.
The scheme's preferred developer, Persimmon Homes, said it is delighted at the chance to talk directly to the public.
Cllr Moody, cabinet member for economic development, said: "We see this as another important opportunity to consult and communicate with the public. We want them to have their say and we want them to support it.
"The doubting Thomases out there can come along and see that this project is on track, is being progressed and will be delivered."
